www.sitmeanssit.com This is a swim-by drill that is used in hunting retriever training, but is done here by my Belgian Malinois ‘Nash’. I did not have a ‘whistle’ on me, so I just gave him a verbal command to ’sit’ on his way out. I am the one holding the camera and also doing the video, so you can hear whatever commands that I give. The dog swims completely straight out until I stop him, then moves side to side across the body of water, only getting out at the end points. Swimming straight lines across long bodies of water takes a good bit of practice. The dog is ’swimming by’ me on his way back across the water. Straight lines are used in lots of different sports.
