Instead of taking one of the more easier choices/options, the Ms decided to go straight forward, made a nice fall, and did her job. Says a lot about this girls character. For the return she took the easier option ;-)

Priscilla Bead Work Book – Victorian Beaded Purses, Jewelry, & More!

I have a compulsive barker in my family–he scratches at the door not to go potty, but just to go bark at any small occurance. The neighbors have a cat that he does not particularly like, and since the cat is always patrolling our fence, the dog always has a reason to bark. He’s a hound dog so his voice is very loud.

I don’t know what else to do–I can’t stay home all the time to scold him, the kids let him out while I am at work and he pisses the neighbors off.

My new dog was adopted today. A little sweetheart. Perhaps a little too sweet. Everytime he’s left alone, even when I go on the front porch for a smoke, he starts whining and howling.

I Know that there are anti-bark collars available, but do that work for howling? Whining isn’t so bad cuz the neihbours can’t hear it, but the howling will be a problem.

I dont want to use the shock collars, but I’ve heard about citronella collars that might work. They spray citronella in front of the dogs face when they bark, so it doesn’t hurt them, just bugs them a bit. But I want to make sure it’ll work for howling.

So do they work for howling, and where’s the cheapest one I can get online? The place to find one is just as imporant to me as knowing if they work.

THANKS!!!

We have an extremely annoying neighbor behind us. Their dogs bark a lot from the morning until the afternoon. When the dogs stopped, you enjoy the silence only for a short time. They bark for several minutes then they stop, after a break they bark again. It continues for hours.

I read online, that I could buy an anti barking unit for my back yard. But I read that it does not work. They have a wall around their yard. An anti barking collar might work.

I wrote them notes several times. They don’t care and let them bark. I have to call animal control. On their web site their wrote: “Unlawful barking is defined as a period of five (5) minutes of barking during a 15-minute interval at any time of day.”

An example: The dog starts to bark at 8 AM and barks for 3 minutes, stops and at 8:10 he barks for 2 minutes. Would that count 5 minutes?
In our old neighborhood was a big dog. When he barked, his voice was deep. If he barked for 5 minutes it was not that irritating. When our new neighbor’s dogs bark, it’s a very squeaky high sound that drives you crazy even if he barks just for seconds.

I hate this neighbor, who destroys our life. He is a public nuisance by disturbing our peace, comfort, health and repose. We can never go into our back yard because that would start dog barking.

Do anti barking collars work?

11 year old cross terriers ……..would anti barking collar hurt them ? if not what is the best?please advise.they howl when left alone.and if let out they bark quite badly at people going past.when door goes its a race beetween them to get there and bark the loudest i have to hold them back to answer door.i have had them from pups and maybe i have let them develop bad habits but i have a new neighbour who is threatining court action unless i can keep them quiet when im out at work.

My basset hound howls very often when I’m home, it’s annoying would collars work?
what’s with the douchebaggery? I know hounds howl, and I knew that before I bought it but as of recently it will howl constantly, every minute.

Dog Training

My dog is VERY stubborn and we might have to consider moving into a condo soon.

Anyone have any experience with this device?
We have a Rottweiler that barks non-stop at a donkey that is in a pasture next to him. It’s past the point of annoying…It’s become an obsession and it’s ridiculous.
We provide him with plenty of exercise, toys and chews galore as well as having another Rott as a companion.
There is no reason, other than obsessive barking that this dog is doing this…
Do these collars work or would I be wasting my $$?
The dog has grown up with the donkey, so it’s not that he’s being protective. It’s simply become an obsessive game for the dog.
The dogs are in a solid fence 48′ wide and 160′ long. There are only 2 dogs in there, so there is plenty of room to run. They are on leash for about 40 mins each day when we go for our evening walks and off leash, playing in the lake and running through the pastures or being lazy in the grass as I garden or do other chores. They have a very nice lifestyle and are well cared for. This isn’t a boredom issue… The dog in question is not yet 2 years old and our 4 year old Rott seems to be annoyed with the pups obsessive barking at the donkey as well.

I do have a shock collar system that I had to purchase to reinforce my commands NOT to kill the poultry. (high drive-was necessary) BUT I can’t be there in the middle of the night…24/7 to correct.
If the anti-bark collar works at night and early morning before breakfast (7am)
I think (hope) it will help him realize that he has many better things to do.
I just didn’t want to invest in something that wasn’t effective.
The donkey could stand right next to the dog lot/run all day, ignoring the dog and that dog would bark at him. Or, he could be out grazing in the pasture and that dog would be focused on him there too.
This is past the point of crazy.
Moving the kennel isn’t an option because I think he would do the same with the cattle or even the goats.
It’s just an obsession he’s become accustom to and is in need of breaking from real quick. :o )
Oh, and Ann…. You’re correct, I DO inquire with others about a product prior to purchasing. I’d say that makes me pretty wise. :o )

Don’t be so offended… Not everyone is going to think you’re as intelligent as you think you are.
Bottom line is, “it is what it is”… right? :o )

When she barks, she’s already in attack mode. So I want to stop her from the moment she starts growling. Wondering if those anti-bark collars would do that.
